Need a win here, or we may be looking at a death spiral for Purdue for 2013....the effort level for the Northwestern game says frightening things about Painter's ability to get through to these kids....

I absolutely love the qualities Matt brings to Purdue basketball, but his recruiting whiffs over the past three years are REALLY coming home to roost, and his ability/reputation to teach and develop the talent he did bring to Purdue is not helped by the crap-fest we've witnessed in the last two games....

I'll take the Lions in this one. Purdue seems done.

I wonder if Painter has any regrets about not taking the Missouri job a couple years ago. Indiana has a ton of HS talent, but there's a lot of competition for those recruits, especially with the Hoosiers being relevant again.

If you're a meat eater, why would you migrate to a place with less food?

It's probably not even a lateral move to Mizzou--in terms of basketball stature and academics, the recent facility upgrades put Purdue among the best there is, and both Painter and Keady have demonstrated you can win big (conference titles, Sweet 16s, Elite 8s) at Purdue if you know what you're doing.

Mizzou was a convenient crowbar to force Morgan Burke to invest more in Painter, and into the hoops program--there may be a few more questions nowadays as to if Painter ultimately justifies the investment, but life at Mizzou now in the SEC is no guarantee of consistent relevance.

As to the game last night, it was good to see Purdue play with some passion to lock down PSU on defense in the second half.

Offensively, it was nice to see our freshmen consistently blow by PSU's guards and get to the basket, but Purdue remains an awful passing team that can't set up or hit a jump shot.

To paraphrase the recently dug-up bones of King Richard III:

"Some shooters! Some shooters! -My kingdom for some outside shooters!!!"
