Georgia Tech, B1G approved?

Clemson 247 twittering that Georgia Tech has been approved into the B1G.

Sources are indicating that the #B1G has approved #GT as its 15th member. Stay tuned... @CFravel247 @Clemson247

If the B1G wants to get to 16 members then I would hope they would go ahead and add 2 more teams to get to that point and have all four new teams competing by 2014. Let's get this conference alignment, at least for the B1G, done.

That said, GT isn't a homerun by any means, but they are still a top notch addition to the conference in my opinion, if that is true.

Georgia Tech's AD is refuting the rumors, at least for now.

GT is a high class school...right in the middle of SECville.

The old BIG TEN will look nothing like the new 14 or 16 team conference.
I hate it but it's the BTN, more markets, recruiting and money driving all of this.

I miss all of the old 10 and even 12 team conferences.

If you were going to add a coastal school, GT isn't a terrible choice. Still, I'm in not in love with the additions so far.

B1G don't care if anyone likes it or not. Right now this whole conference re-arrangement madness is a pure cash grab. Nobody wants to be the Big East who has basically been pillaged on all fronts.

I don't care for any of it but...like RMK once said, if conference expansion is inevitable then relax and enjoy it

Why stop at 16?

I say we go for 20. The Big Ten will then be appropriately named (for each 10-member Division).

And who are the leading candidates for member #16?

Notre Dame for the Domers?
Navy to get a service academy?
WVU for the couch-burners?
Texas for the cheerleaders?
Colorado four twenty?
Missouri to stick it to the SEC?
Miami for the Vice?
Pitt because Delaney has a secret man-crush on William Pitt the Elder?
TCU so they can forever torment Sconnie?
BYU to secure the Mormon TV eyeballs?
Appalachian State just because they're HOT HOT HOT?
UNLV for the casinos?

I'm willing to bet Notre Dame feels ballsy and jumps on-board at the last possible moment.

Virginia is being rumored as #16 and there is a new rumor out that is stating GT and UVA will announce Monday.
