Purdue is now "Hope-less"

Thanks, Morgan Burke, for finally doing what needed to be done--let's get someone who will energize the fanbase...

Meh. If they want to be good they will have to pay someone a TON of money. Don't see it happening.

This is a good thing. Now...lets see if Morgan can actually hire someone that doesn't suck.

Rumors of them going after Monken?

O-Coordinator for Okie State?

Interesting.

You mean like Michigan did with DickRod? Like Purdue did with Fred Akers? Like USC did with Kiffin?

There is no doubt Purdue needs to pay the new guy (and ESPECIALLY his staff) better than they paid Danny, but the notion that a massive starting salary guarantees on-field success is flat-out false.

I would not say the answer is to just throw money at the next coach.

Purdue didn't throw money at Tiller...at least not in the beginning. Once he proved himself, sure. A smart, educated decision would be fine.

You have to get the right person for the job, and offering high salary can help do that. It still has to be the right person though.

I disagree with the "Purdue needs a perfect storm to be good" sentiment.

IMO, they have better resources than Indiana, Minnesota, Northwestern and on par with Illinois and possibly Iowa.

Purdue has a long way to go to be a conference title contender year in and year out but they should consistently be able to field solid, not complete bottom feeder teams.

Maybe I came off wrong there...I agree Purdue should not need a "perfect storm" to be good. They SHOULD be better than IU/Minny/NW/Ill and maybe Iowa more years than not. I would agree with that somewhat.

Still need a solid coach & staff.
