Ferns Expected to Commit to the University of Michigan

With over 20 major D1 programs to choose from, Michael Ferns has been in a recruiting position that no other St. Clairsville football player has ever been in. Only heading into his Junior year, Ferns has been considered one of the top recruits in not only Ohio, but Nationwide for the class of 2014.
Being recruitied as a Linebacker, Ferns has a unique skill set that includes speed, size, and athleticism, which makes him very appealing at the collegiate level. Depending on how much weight he puts on, his speed and athleticism will allow him to play any position on the football field. Already standing at 6’3″, 235lbs – Ferns is only 16 years old with plenty of growth potential ahead.
Having narrowed his final choices to Notre Dame, Penn State, and Michigan – Ohio Valley Athletics has learned that Ferns is expected to commit to the University of Michigan in the near future.
The Ohio Valley has never had a football player garner this much national attention… ever. As exciting as this whole process has been for the Ferns family, St. Clairsville, and whole Ohio Valley – there is 1 person even more excited, Michigan head coach Brady Hoke.
Hoke has already assembled what many consider to be the #1 recruiting class in the country with plenty of all-star athletes in his future pipeline. Hoke’s biggest wish is about to come true as he has had Ferns ranked top among his recruiting wishlist for the incoming class of 2014.
Though we’re Ohio State supporters by location – Ohio Valley Athletics would like to be the first to congratulate Ferns for choosing the University of Michigan!
Ferns also runs the 100m dash in track.

Awesome story about Ferns. He ran out at the 1 yard line on a huge play to let his friend score a touchdown. That friend had just lost his father and Ferns wanted to do something nice for him. So not only did he run out, he played fullback on the next play and blasted a whole open for his teammate to run through. Awesome story, I'll try to find a link later, but that's the gist of it.

Malik still looks good for Michigan and Webb is blowing up. I'd still bet everything I have that Webb ends up at Michigan, but he'll have offers from all the big time schools if he waits. He's said to be one of the best, if not the best DB/WR's Cass Tech has produced and he's got good size height wise, and a nice build.

Chicago (Ill.) Hales Franciscan junior offensive tackle prospect Denzel Ward (6-foot-9, 285 pounds) was able to add an offer from the Michigan Wolverines over the weekend when he was an unofficial visitor in Ann Arbor. Ward talks about adding his latest offer from one of his dream schools and much more in this update.
Sounds like he's been tweeting the 2013 commits and he may pull the trigger any time for the Wolverines. Lose an OL, gain an OL. Dude is HUGE.

Sounds like he needs to gain some serious weight to play O-line at the next level--285 is nothing for a dude who's 6-9. I'm sure he can and will bulk up, of course, since he's only a junior and has yet to be exposed to a college strength trainer.

Comparably though, Jake Long came in at 6'7" 295. 10 pounds his junior year and 10 pounds his senior year puts him at 305 while being 2 inches taller. Not far off from Jake Long in terms of what they were when they came in. I do agree he can add some weight, but I think he will. Plus he'll be an automatic redshirt with the depth Michigan is bringing in, so if he does commit he'll be fine.

Yeah, I figured he'd have plenty of time to add weight between finishing high school and redshirting his freshman year. Let's hope we get him on board.

Denzel Ward commits to the Wolverines!

Also of note, 2015 running back Damien Harris tweeted today that he'd be coming to Michigan, he's Michigan's only 2015 offer, but he hasn't officially committed. Wanted to make that clear, he tweeted he's Michigan bound for college but he's not officially committed, though he does have an offer.

2015 Running back Damien Harris stats and measurables: 5'11", 201 pounds, 4.42 40 time. 122 carries for 1600 yards 32 touchdowns. Apparently had an electric timed 40 at 4.51 at 200 pounds as a sophomore. He claims he's down to a 4.42, which could be legit because he went from a 10.7 to 10.4 in the 100m run between his freshman and sophomore seasons. A ridiculous 13.1 ypc, and he usually only plays the first half for his team. Was one of the top RB's at Michigan's summer camp this past summer(reason for being the first 2015 offer).
