Denard Robinson to play receiver

http://espn.go.com/college-football/...er-senior-bowl

Quote:
MOBILE, Ala. -- Former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson will play wide receiver in the Senior Bowl.

Robinson finished his career with 4,495 rushing yards, an NCAA record for quarterbacks.

Senior Bowl executive director Phil Savage says he is "comparable to Antwaan Randle El" in athleticism, ball skills and speed. Randle El was an Indiana quarterback who went on to play receiver with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Redskins.

Robinson was a three-year starter at quarterback but injured his right elbow late in the season.

He lined up mostly at running back in the Outback Bowl against South Carolina and rushed for 100 yards on 23 carries.

Now, Robinson will get a week to show NFL teams how he might fare in the transition to receiver leading up to the Jan. 26 game.

Its his best and smartest move. He should ask to go to the NFL combine as an athlete, and go through drills as a WR, RB and QB.

I could see a team like Washington, SF, or Carolina taking him. He'd be a great WR/PR/KR/RB/3rd down back, and then he could also be a nice back-up for a mobile QB like RGIII, Kapernick, or Cam Newton on teams that run a little read option!

He should be a running back. Slot receiver as a second option. But better than forcing himself to try and be a QB(which won't happen in the NFL).

Good move. I mean heck ARE had a decent NFL career. Even got to throw a TD pass in the Super Bowl.
